Summer Missions FAQs
Q: Who will be going on the project?
A: You will be joined by other Chinese students from all over the United States. There will be American and Chinese staff and volunteers serving and mentoring students on the Chinese Trek. We hope to have a group of 40 or more students and staff on the Boston Summer Mission and 15 or more students and staff on the East Asia Summer Mission.
Q: How do I pay for a project?
A: You can pay with your own funds or you have the opportunity to grow in your faith by trusting God to provide the financial resources you need. Once you go through the application process and receive acceptance, we’ll send you thorough information on how to ask people you know to be a partner in ministry through prayer and financial support. You’ll be able to invite others — family, friends, fellow church members, and others — to invest in expanding God’s kingdom as you go this summer. Contact us if you would like to learn more about raising financial support.
Q: What if I need to take classes this summer?
A: We have scheduled the Chinese Trek so that students can participate before taking summer classes. If there are any class conflicts, we suggest you talk to your professor as he/she may be able to make accommodations for you.
Q: What if I can’t participate now?
A: Though we offer mission opportunities each summer, we encourage you to consider participating this summer! You may never have this opportunity again!
Q: What if I am not a believer?
A: Contact us and ask for information about special opportunities for seekers. The Chinese Treks are only for believers.
Q: How do I apply?
A: You can apply via the online application form (for Boston, East Asia, or the Central Asia Summer Mission). Your application needs to be submitted and references received before the early registration deadline (February 15 for the Back to Jerusalem Trek, April 15 for the Boston and East Asia Summer Missions) in order to receive the $100 early discount. After the early deadlines we will accept applicants based on availability. You should contact your references 1-2 weeks before deadline so they can submit forms in a timely manner.
Q: What should I expect after I apply?
A: Once we receive and review your application and references, you should hear a decision from us within 1-2 weeks. We will then ask you to provide $100 deposit to secure a spot for you on the Trek. We will also give you information to help you prepare for the Trek.
Q: How can I learn more?
A: If you still don’t see your question answered here, and you’ve checked out the articles in the sidebar, then contact us. You can check out videos, photos and receive more information. Hear students share about their experiences in the Chinese Network.
